The India Experience
hey ppl... hows life in malaysia??? (or for those of u overseas, hows life in whichever part of the globe u are in ???) ...miss u all ....well so far i've been having quite a good time here...really quite fun... left KLIA on the 9th at 10.15pm....the flight was about 3hrs plus...was MAS but they didnt have the individual in flight entertainment system...had to watch the common screen...anyway they showed mr.mrs smith which was good cus i havent seen that show b4...guy sitting next to me was named Dhanish...sound like my name hor...what a coincidence...reach banglore international airport around 11pm local time...the airport is excatly as gracie said it would be "kesian"...haha...banglore is quite a nice city...pretty developed (relative to other parts)...its the sillicon valley of india....the first thing u notice about india is the drivers...they drive with one hand on the horn...they horn for everything...to pass, to turn, for no apparent reason at all....haha....and that was at night when the street was practically empty....in the morning it was worse...soooo noisy...i never want to drive here...sure meet with accident...but amazingly i havent seen one accident here since i came...good driving skills...haha...wonder why in F1 cannot win??? maybe cus got no horn!!! LOL....stayed in a nice hotel for the night....then in the morning flew to manglore airport...that one lagi kesian....its on a mountain top...but the airport look like a bus terminal (in malaysia in probably would be a bus terminal)....then took the college bus to manipal....waaalau...the bus ride was terrible...somemore i sat behind....soooo bumpy ...roads here are really bad....by the time reached the campus..my body was aching all over the place....the campus is quite nice...very big....itsnot like campus in malaysia...its really like a mini township...so its a very bz campus...plus almost all the faculties are here from medicine to information technology....ooh the second thing u notice bout india is its like a mini zoo anywhere u go...haha...so far i've seen dogs, goats, cows, bulls, pigs, monkeys n a snake roaming around....n u need to have very good awareness when walking around....if u watch out for cars u will probably step in cow dung...if u watch out for cow dung u will probably get knocked down by a car (kinda hard cus they horn at u although ur like 100m away)....so must be able to watch out for both things...haha...my fren stepped in cw dung twice aldy ..n almost got knocked down by a bus...kesian betul...the seniors here are really really friendly ...always willing to lend a hand if u have any problems or questions...batchmates are also very friendly....managed to get the single AC room...lucky lucky...although it cost quite a lot...but really like a hotel compared to the standard twin sharing rooms (nicknamed the dungeon)...really cool here at night at this time of the year...so barely use the aircon anyway...will come in usefull during the summer time though...heard temps can reach up to 40 degrees....madness...sure fry one...uni got lot of great facilities....library is very impressive..6 floors..... anatomy museum is very very well stocked with real specimens....food in the mess hall is great (no variety..but still delicious n cheap).... food in the restaurants are also delicious...n relatively very cheap....got my new hp line...called spice (kinda like the digi of india)...airtel is the maxis of india.....best part is its free unlimited sms to any network provider within this state (Karnataka)...sooo coool....can sms all my frens here for free...save soo much money...hence can sms/call back home more...oh india the phone line a bit weird one...if ur in one state n u call another state its considered roaming (STD) aldy...have to pay slightly higher charges (feel free to msg me...my numbers posted on frenster...n if u dont have frenster email me..i'll send it to u)...nearest town to campus is called Udupi...ok lah the town...lots of shops n all...very bz town....one of the only places u can get really cold soft drinks...haha..only about 60 malaysian cents for one bottle......had an experience on the bus ride back from the town....was sooooooo packed....and they dont believe in no space...no matter how packed also ppl still wanna squeeze in ....that was really terrible... the autos are nice...n quite cheap...kinda like taxis here....hmmm what else ah???? started classes 2 days ago....so far so good...aldy got quite a bit of studying to do...lecturers here very power one.... no need to bring any notes to class...they just come in n can talk for 2 hrs non stop....my books still havent arrived so still have to rely on the library to study..lucky its only a 5 min walk from my hostel block...got my bone set also ...real human bones...so cool...haha....got my lab coat also today...hehe...now feel even more professional...monday got anatomy dissection...cant wait ...excited...real cadavers... about 20 students to a cadaver...pretty good considering malaysia most unis dont even have 1....ok dammm sleepy now..wanna take a nap.... will post agn soon....take care....
