problem solved ..and decision made
Had a lot of thinking to do this past week........ got an offer letter from melaka manipal medical college on the 26th .........was so happy that i got an offer but extremely shocked that it came sooo fast...... had 2 weeks from the said date to confirm acceptance as well as to make payment for the first 2 semester (comes up to 58K) ...the problem? well number one, i was ..i am .. still awaiting the results from IMU... which unfortunately will only be out around june 15th....seeing as to how i preferred IMU this became a small problem.... problem number 2 is that im leaving for a trip to europe on june 2nd and will only be back on june 13th ...which is already past the deadline to accept the manipal offer....so i was in a dilemma whether to wait a while for the IMU one or not...thought about it till my head spun..haha....thought bout how i will be royally screwed if i dont accept this and dont get the imu one as well....so finally decided to accept the manipal's offer..... not going to waste a chance like this :) ...... oh special thanks to hen and kong soon for listening to my annoying problem ... haha .... So will be going to India for 21/2 yrs...will be leaving on the first week of september....already thinking of how i'll be missing all my friends and family here.... well on the bright side i'll be back in 21/2 yrs.... hope to see everyone once i return .....If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don't.
If you'd like to win but think you can't,It's almost certain you won't.
Life's battles don't always go,To the stronger or faster man,
But sooner or later, the man who wins ,
Is the man who thinks he can.

Self Defence
These are just some bits and pieces of info i pulled out from some articles in a magazine.... thought it was interesting...think it is useful for both martial artist and non martial artist as well...be forewarned though its going to be a bit long.... :)This was an interesting read about why even if u get attacked in broad daylight with ppl around, u still may not get any help.... Social scientist indentified a subtle yet strong influence on the way we think and act. Specifically in ambiguous situations (where ppl are not sure excatly whats going on), there is a natural tendency for everyone to be looking to see how everyone else is behaving, in order to determine how they should behave. This phenomenon is called 'pluralistic ignorance'. In a case when a person is attacked in front of a group of on-lookers and no one did anything to help, the professors speculated that no one acted precisely because there were so many observers. 2 reasons other than not wanting to get involved were indentified. firstly because there are so many ppl around each assumed that some one else had or would call the police or provide assistance. Hence the individual responsibility of any single individual to do something was diminished. The second reason, if a situation is not clearly an emergency, how do ppl tell whether it is or not?? They look to see how others are reacting and from that decide what to do. Looking around they saw that nobody else was concerned so they drew the conclusion that it wasnt an emergency. The problem was that everyone was doing the same thing. So if you are ever in this situation a few tips that u can use... first the bystanders must never be left in doubt whether the situation is an emergency or not and if you require assistance or not....Secondly dont throw out generalised request for help to a group of ppl...be specific... I.E : You in the white tshirt please help/ call an ambulance/police.Can a martial artist hands and feet be considered deadly weapons???In most countries there are additional criminal penalties for injuries caused by a deadly or dangerous weapon, so would a martial artist hands and feet be considered a deadly/dangerous weapon? There is a popular myth that martial artist must register their limbs as deadly weapons with the authorities. This myth however is not true. The vast majority of trained martial artist do not engage in acts of unprovoked violence. However the martial artist who finds himself in a fight may be accused of wrong doing because of the prejudice towards him. There are a few cases where the martial artist was given a heavier punishment then usual. those cases are examples of how a martial artist taking calculated advantage of his/her martial art skills to inflict injury on others could face heavier sentences, it is also interesting to note that judges could possible consider the hands and feet as deadly weapons. Martial artist are sometimes expected by the courts to exercise self-control and discretion in choosing which techniques they use, more so than other members of the public. The way martial artist use their hands and/or feet may also be a determining factor in deciding the level of responsibility they have for the outcome. Ordinarily fist are not considered deadly weapons but what if a martial artist conditions his fist such that they could be used repeatedly, without pain, to inflict blows to delicate parts of the body? thefore unless the offensive moves were clearly done in self defence it is likely the martial artist could face criminal charges as well. Hence it is much better to avoid the fight or use restraining techniques against the attacker then techniques which could cause injuries or fatalities.Thats about it for now.... will save some self defence tips for the next post ... To subdue the enemy without fighting is the highest skill."- Sun-Tsu
